When LA-based British singer Raign (Rachel Rabin) headed back to the UK she kept the purpose of her journey a big secret from her family and friends.
Last week all was unveiled as the sophisticated singer/songwriter stepped on the stage at the X Factor (UK) ready to impress the judges with her undeniable talents.
Simon Cowell was certainly impressed that’s for sure; he knows a talent when he sees one… And Cheryl? Um, well, she was a little more difficult to please…
The 31-year-old hopeful, whose search for a singing career was televised on last Sunday night’s show, has a Top 20 hit in Russia to her name.
Oo-er!
Raign caused a stir amongst the judges, with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini appearing to take an instant dislike to the singer (but of course that was all for show). Lucky for her, Cowell recognized the ‘tryer’ aspect in her character.
At one point Simon told her: “Basically you’re 31 and nothing has worked out for you.”
Displeased with her over-confident attitude and refusal to take no for an answer, Cheryl sent Raign packing – until she barged her way back into the audition room and sang again, winning Simon’s casting vote. Yay!
Justifying her over-confidence, Raign’s audition song Don’t Let Me Go was also used on the hit US show The Vampire Diaries and she boasts a previous co-written track Been Lying with international star Rita Ora.
Whatever the outcome might be… It would appear that Raign has more sunshine surrounding her than clouds and I am sure we haven’t heard the last of Raign Rabin!
