The Welsh League of Southern California is proud to present the 2015 Southern California St. David’s Day Festival on Feb 28th from 11am-3:30pm at the Pico Union Project (formerly the Welsh Presbyterian Church) 1153 Valencia Street in downtown Los Angeles. Major sponsorship provided by the National Welsh American Foundation and Dylan Thomas Birthplace.
Among the talented performers who will be on hand are headliners The Poxy Boggards (pictured), – best known locally for their regular engagements at the Renaissance Faire – along with performances by harpist Aedan MacDonnell, singer-songwriter Virginia Morris, and special Dylan Thomas poetry readings by Hilary Wyn Williams and actor Joe Praml.
And there’s plenty of stuff of the kids too, including a kids-only tea party, storytime, and much more. Plus Welsh food, Welsh cakes, unique Welsh gifts, and a book release party for ‘The Welsh in the Old West’ by A Raven Above Press. This is a family event, and all are welcome.
“The celebration of Saint David’s is more than commemorating the life of an ancient monk. This is a celebration and a reminder of where we come from. One of the greatest features of America is that it does not ask us to abandon our culture, rather we are asked to contribute our culture, so that the whole may become greater than the sum of the parts,” said Peter Anthony Freeman, President of the Welsh League of Southern California.
Tickets range between $5-$10 and children under 5 are free. For tickets and more information go to http://www.welshleagueofsocal.com .
