McCabe’s Bar & Grill in Santa Monica will be hosting a benefit for longtime resident Billy Goldie on Saturday, October 13th at 4pm.
Billy was born in Kilmarnock and has lived in Los Angeles for over fifty years. He is now 84 years of age and suffering from a variety of Alzheimer’s-related ailments. He is scheduled to board a plane back to Scotland the day following the event, according to Colin McCabe, who is hosting the benefit. Colin told the BW: “The plan is to have someone chaperone him, for want of a better word, and hand him off to them that might be able to afford him the kind of care that he needs. It is our intent to have Billy and his carer board a plane the day after the benefit, and safely deliver him into the hands of those trained to accommodate his current and future needs.”
McCabe’s Bar & Grill is located at 2455 Santa Monica Blvd, in Santa Monica, just west of 26th Street. All those who knew Billy during his many years among the expat community , or just those who want to support a good cause, are encouraged to attend.
