MUCH OF THE CREAM of modern British acting can be seen in the searing new British movie 44 inch chest, opening on January 15th at the Nuart in West LA.
Ray Winstone, Joanne Whalley, John Hurt, Tom Wilkinson and Ian McShane star in the ferociously visceral and profane drama, in which we witness the disintegration of garage owner Colin Diamond (Winstone) after Liz, his wife of more than 20 years (Whalley) confesses to an affair with a much younger man. Cue all sorts of mayhem as his best friends – Old Man Peanut (Hurt); Archie (Tom Wilkinson) Merdedith (McShane) and Mal (Stephen Dillane) kidnap the youn g loverboy and leave him, beaten and bloodied, bound and gagged, to Colin’s tender mercies.
What follows is a very bumpy night as Colin wrestles with his self pity, conscience, love, heartbreak and vengeful fury as his mates encourage him to just get on with it…so they can get down to the pub.
