Duck Ugly, a new tale about a little English girl who doesn’t quite fit in, will debut at the Santa Monica Playhouse on December 9th.
The solo play is the work of British storyteller, stand-up comic and actor/playwright Claire Thomasina J, who recently moved to Los Angeles. She studied at the Bridge Theatre Training Company in London then went on to work extensively in the theatre in such roles as Helena in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya and Rosalind in As You Like It. Claire has also written, produced and starred in two short films – Colour Me Beautiful and The Secret Child of Shanti – that were devised entirely from improvisation. They have been screened in London and Dublin. Claire performs regularly as a storyteller in Los Angeles and as a stand up comic at the Hollywood Improv and the Comedy Store.
The show debuts on Sunday, December 9th, with a reception and silent auction at 7:00 pm, performance at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 and can be bought in advance by visiting www.santamonicaplayhouse.com or by calling 310-394-9779. Mature audiences only. All proceeds benefit the Santa Monica Playhouse Save the Playhouse Campaign.
The Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 4th Street (between Wilshire & Arizona), Santa Monica.
