Nigella Lawson’s star turn in last week’s debut of ABC’s new cooking elimination show, The Taste, may have won over the critics, but she’s making no concessions to the show’s publicity department – refusing to have her belly airbrushed in promotion shots for the new show.
Nigella wrote on her blog ahead of the show’s debut on Tuesday “I was very strict and English and told them they weren’t allowed to airbrush my tummy out … that tum is the truth and is come by honestly, as my granny would have said”.
But at least one newspaper has cast doubt on the tale, noting that the 53-year old’s silhouette was made all the more apparent as she wore the same outfit for the first show as at the show’s publicity launch and the resulting publicity stills.
“Nigella looked considerably narrower in the showstopping red dress, and her tummy area was smooth,” said the Daily Mail.
Not only that “her arms appear more toned, and there is no evidence of the dreaded ‘bingo wings’ that cause most middle aged women to hide their limbs in cardigans.
“The beautiful brunette’s face also seems rejuvenated, with no sign of smile lines and a perfectly defined jawline.
“Her decolletage also seems to be plumper, and there is no evidence of a muffin top as her waist glides smoothly in to the curve of her hips.”
A representative for Ms. Lawson had not commented on the matter at press time.
