A GOOD time was had by all last Sunday as the Olde Ship pub and restaurant in Fullerton celebrated its 20th anniversary with an al fresco bash at local landmark the Muckenthaler Cultural Center.
In the festive atmosphere of an old-fashioned garden party revellers enjoyed a shaded beer garden and plenty of good food including barbecued burgers and sausages, clam chowder and the pub’s signature Sticky Toffee Pudding. On hand were the Ship’s super-friendly staff, guided by the indefatigable Lynn Waterson. Presiding over all was owner Simon Collier, who took the helm after the untimely death of his father, founder Doug Collier seven years ago. Among the attractions was a vintage car show featuring some immaculate MGs and Austin-Healeys and a gorgeous 1938 Bentley and a 1933 Rolls Royce. Pride of place went to a recently ‘remodeled’ London doubl e-decker bus, a very inviting conveyance – and a long way from its former life as the No. 73 to Oxford Street and Stoke Newington. The bus features a bar and even an upstairs bathroom….now that’s progress.
Congratulations from the British Weekly to everyone at the Olde Ship. Here’s to the next twenty years…
