Welcome to the weekly Brits in LA column, we have so many great events (ongoing and upcoming) up over the next month or two:
We are hosting a Drag Queen Bingo night (details below) for a short film Craig directed called Pepper. The money raised will go towards the fees needed to enter the film onto the film festival circuit.
Twitter, Gigging and Photography:
• We have really been enjoying our collaboration with BBC America’s Mind the Gap’s weekly #MindTheChat Twitter discussions. To join in the discussion search for #MindTheChat Fridays at 10am PST. You can also follow us on Twitter @britsinla.
•Wondering what British acts are gigging in LA the next few months? There’s a page for that too! Robert Plant is playing this month and The English Beat also have a couple of shows coming up. I am particularly excited about Adam Ant and my grandma’s favourite Engelbert Humperdinck. Mr Humperdinck will be playing at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank, which is apparently a mini Hollywood Bowl. You can even bring a picnic and wine, throw in the discount code LABRITS and you have a pretty cheap night out! • Renowned British fashion and portrait photographer Rankin has lent his support to ending world hunger and poverty by raising awareness for the programs of Heifer International, an organization dedicated to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth.
Brits in LA and Heifer International, together with The Hunger Magazine and Rankin, are inviting aspiring photographers to submit their best photography inspired by the Heifer International mission: hunger. One winner will have their photograph displayed and promoted at a glitzy Fahey-Klein Gallery reception in Los Angeles later this summer. Deadline for submissions is July 2nd.

There are a lot of very talented Brits in LA members currently performing at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, including Ceri Bethan Rose in “Double Bind”. This show is currently offering 2 for 1 tickets at the door. For details visit: www.doublebindtheplay.com
Other Brits worth checking out are Mario Vernazza, Belinda Gosbee and Catherine Siggins, all cast in “Two Rooms. Ruth Connell is starring in “Peter Pan: The Boy Who Hated Mothers”. For full details visit the Hollywood Fringe website at www.hollywoodfringe.org. I have heard great reviews on all 3 shows so can happily recommend all of them!
