Meet – Marc Conneely who moved to LA 3 years ago from London. Marc launched MTV worldwide and now invests in companies as well as being Chairman of the British support charity, UKares Foundation.
1. Was there a particular reason you chose LA? – two reasons, one to be closer to me two kids (17 -yr old son, daughter 14) following divorce and secondly to continue my business interests.
2. What one thing do you miss from home? -meeting friends at the Crusting Pipe wine bar in Covent Garden whilst opera singers busk in the background.
3. What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus the UK? – I adore the positive outlook and ‘can do’ attitude, it’s not easy to find in the UK.
4. Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us? – although never a car fan, I always take guests to the Automobile Driving Museum, El Segundo. This wonderful boutique museum has cars owned by everyone from Howard Hughes to Errol Flynn and my personal favourite, a 1936 Packard, owned by the Premier of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin.
5. What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move? Don’t ask too many questions, people will talk you out of it. Make the move.
