Local expat group Brits in LA recently took a poll of their thousands of members to determine their favorite Los Angeles pub. The clear winner was The King’s Head II located at 12969 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City (www.kingsheadstudiocity.com)
Opening its doors just last year, the Kings Head II is the Valley branch of the famous Ye Old Kings Head in Santa Monica, and they serve a variety of great beers and offer a traditional menu of British favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have a late night happy hour (which is always a bonus), as well as live English soccer every weekend for you early birds. The pub is also on Facebook.
Rounding out the top five were: (2) The Cat and Fiddle Pub and Restaurant, (6530 West Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood), (3) the original Kings Head (116 Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica), (4) The Pikey, (7917 West Sunset Boulevard), and the Village Idiot, (7383 Melrose Avenue).
The King’s Head was also getting plenty of love from the LA Weekly recently, naming the Santa Monica mothership as top of the, er, premier league when it came to ‘the best places to eat, drink and watch UK soccer’. The King’s Head beat the Cock & Bull into second place, with The Fox and Hounds (Studio City), Lucky Baldwins (Old Town Pasadena) and The Cat & Fiddle rounding out the top five. Congratulations to all those listed above. We’ll see you down the pub!
