Meet Caroline Feraday from London who moved to LA earlier this year to pursue Bradley Cooper mostly, although my husband won’t be pleased at me for admitting it. Sorry husband… Apparently also a career and suntan too.
Was there a particular reason you chose LA?
I’d been here to and fro over the last ten years, I used to fill in on the GMTV job many years ago and I’d get sent by the BBC to cover the Oscars and just thought it the most exciting, creative, buzzy and positive place. I vowed that I would live here one day, and eventually the planets aligned and the timing was right – and here I am. Hugh “House” Laurie recently said in an interview that someone turned the temperature in LA to “lovely” and just left it there, and he could not be more right.
What one thing do you miss from home?
Lime cordial. I blooming love lime cordial in soda – with vodka on a good day. They keep giving me fresh lime, probably thinking it’s more posh. I just want good, old-fashioned cordial in my vodka, lime and soda. That and public transport. Oh – and my friends and family obviously. I can’t count, did you say ONE thing?
What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus the UK?
Public transport. Driving everywhere takes some getting used to after 18 years of living in London and walking, tubing, cycling and bus-ing it everywhere. Now I have to drive and park.
Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?
‘Absolutely not, I’m not letting you spoil it 😉 OK – best burrito in entire of LA (which is saying something as there is competition) is from Poquito Mas. It’s epic.
What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?
I’m just starting out myself, so the best advice I would give is – LEAP – and the net will appear (unless you are a salmon).
