The British-American Christmas Party has long been one of the highlights of the British social scene and this year is no exception, with Sarah, Duchess of York named as the guest of honor.
The Christmas bash will take place at the Starlight Ballroom at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on Friday afternoon, December 13 and the venue will be transformed by a spirited Merry Christmas Celebration in Grand British Tradition.
The event, which features bagpipers and traditional British holiday fare has become a celebrated favorite with BABC members and guests alike. Each year the Christmas Party draws over 500 people, including the British Consul General, the Regional Director of UK Trade & Investment, celebrities, local political figures, and prominent leaders from high profile business, aerospace, manufacturing, legal and entertainment companies. In addition to great networking and celebration, there will also be musical entertainment as well as the BABC showcasing leading British luxury brands, from clothing to jewelry to cars.
Festivities begin at 11:30 am with a hosted Champagne Reception and Silent Auction, which features a wide variety of items and fantastic vacations, both domestic and abroad. The traditional sit-down Christmas Luncheon, complete with all the trimmings, is accompanied by entertainment. Recent distinguished speakers at the Christmas Luncheon have included NBA All-Star Gary Payton in 2009, renowned producer Mark Burnett in 2010, best-selling author Sir Ken Robinson in 2011, and comedian Tom Arnold in 2012. Other notable speakers, performers and guests have included Roger Moore, Daniel Craig, Lynn Redgrave, Brenda Blethyn, Billy Connelly, Ben Stein and Joan Collins.
The BABC LA Christmas Luncheon will support the efforts of the BABC LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting friendship, commerce and trade between the United States and the United Kingdom.
