Well I don’t know whether it’s age or the amount of alcohol I consumed Tuesday night but hangovers ain’t what they used to be!!!
I guess all in all it tells me the holidays have arrived and Brits in LA kicked it off big style with our annual Christmas party – a very elegant affair at Pearl’s Liquor Bar on the Sunset Strip. The night benefited the charity Adopt-a-letter founded by Dame Kimberly Moore (www.adoptaletter.org). The charity is now it’s sixth year and has made a huge difference in the lives of so many families here in Southern California – Kimberley and her team answer the letters sent to Santa each year in the poorer parts of LA and with our help she put smiles on kids’ faces. Every year we host a raffle and a toy drive. Thanks to all our kind members who donated prizes which included a wine basket with spa packages from Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica, signed books, a bottle of Ron Jeremy rum, a styling voucher and a $100 dollar gift certificate for Marmalade cafe. It was so nice to see so many of you there. Eveyone raved about the endless flowing champagne and the sticky toffee pudding. Yum!
I created a playlist that had everyone on the dance floor – a mix of old 70’s, 80’s and 90’s pop with a few of the classic Christmas songs! – Last Christmas was there of course, and my favourite, Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine. We also have to give a bit shout-out to our sponsors for the night, Volkswagen Santa Monica. We named a drink after them – the VWSM – VODKA SODA WATER and cranMERRY, as well as the NO-BLA HUMBUG – a champagne cocktail – try them at your next holiday party.
