Gravity and 12 Years A Slave lead the pack in Bafta nominations

If you haven’t seen Gravity yet, now is the time! The Alfonso Cuaron-directed film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney earned the most nominations – 11 total – for the 2014 BAFTA Awards. The EE British Academy Film Awards announced the complete list of nominees on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Gravity earned nominations in Leading Actress, Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design and Sound and Special Visual Effects.

12 Years a Slave (starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt) and American Hustle (starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence) each earned ten nominations, and Captain Phillips (starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi) earned nine.

Trailing behind, Saving Mr. Banks (starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson) and Behind the Candelabra (starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon) earned five nominations each. Here are the leading nomination categories:
