Pillowfights, bingo and lots of Coward…

Hey Breeps!

Spring forwarding we may be, but it really doesn’t seem five minutes ago since we were ringing in the New Year!

pillow-fight-useIt’s been a very busy few months. Over at Brits in LA we are delighted to announce our partnership with Jaguar North America. And we are very fortunate that they have given Brits in LA members an incredible incentive for the month to launch our partnership – if you are a member of our Brits in LA Facebook group you will have access to a unique link – that in turn, will set you up with a discount code you can take to any Jaguar dealership and take advantage of an incredible one-time offer for up to $4500 off Partners Invoice Pricing on the purchase or lease of any new 2014 Jaguar car.

The deal is only available to us until Mar 31, 2014 and open to only residents of the US. If you aren’t a member of Brits in LA yet sign up HERE. But please note that membership is not guaranteed -you must know someone already in the group – if not, you can send us an email letting us know how you think you would benefit from being a member.

Pillows at the ready – No you are not sleeping, but fighting.  Saturday April 5th marks the International Pillow Fight day. Yes you heard right, it does exist and it’s not just for kids anymore! There will be massive pillow fights in cities around the world! Ours takes place at Pershing Square, (532 S Olive St, Los Angeles, CA 90014.) Can you imagine the clean up? We did this a few years ago and I honestly have never laughed so hard in my life. It’s a great day out with friends. After all the feathery fun, why not grab a few cocktails in some of the buzzy neighborhood bars and discover the new downtown LA…if you haven’t already!

Calling all bingo enthusiasts and/or fans of 80’s and 90’s music.  Brits in LA are taking over the Parlor (7250 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, 323/930-2100) on Thursday nights for #TBTBINGO starting Mar 27th, 2014. Eyes down for some lucky numbers as we bring back British-style Bingo. It’s good old-fashioned fun with a twist. Great prizes, drink specials and surprise bingo callers!!!

Now that Toscars fever is over with, I can only say….. Phew! Thanks to everyone involved, especially our sponsors, volunteers and our community – that would be YOU! – who showed up to support our members for a fab sold out night out at the Egyptian Theatre. Can’t wait till next year!

noel-cowardTHE MASTER

The timeless works of Noel Coward continue to endure and with very good reason. The playwright, author, actor and director was rightfully known as “The Master” and was once described by Time Magazine as possessed of a “unique sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise”.

There are no fewer than three local Coward events this spring. Firstly a superb production of the classic weepie Brief Encounter at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the performers arts, (9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd. Beverly Hills. 310/746.4000) which is getting fantastic reviews. Opening this week at the Pasadena Playhouse is A Song At Twilight, Coward’s late-life meditation on success and failure, joy and regret. The show stars Bruce Davison (a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee a few years back for his devastating performance in Longtime Companion), Sharon Lawrence and Roxanne Hart. For showtimes and tickets, visit www.pasadenaplayhouse.org.

And finally I am currently in rehearsals for The Vortex, Coward’s first-ever produced play, directed by long-time Brits in LA member Gene Franklin Smith. Opening at The Malibu Playhouse on April 11th. For tickets click HERE.

So ’til next time my Breeps, I’ll leave you with a fantastic quote from Coward about our little hometown. “Hollywood,” he said, “is a place where some people lie on the beach and look up at the stars, whereas other people lie on the stars and look down at the beach.”

How very true 😉

Cheers!

Craig
