Independent British film showing in Beverly Hills

An independent British film, ‘Common People’ will be in town for a one-off screening on Thursday April 24th at 2pm as part of the Beverly Hills Film Festival.

“Common People” is a bittersweet British comedy entirely set on a London common. It features six stories of disparate Londoners, whose lives become intertwined when they encounter an escaped parrot.

It’s a small micro-budget film, with no marketing, advertising budget or distributor attached to it. It had its British Premiere on January 19th for what was supposed to be a one-off screening in London at the Clapham Picturehouse. In the end, it proved so popular that it played to 18 packed houses over nine weeks.

Picturehouse Cinemas (the last independent chain left in the UK) were so overwhelmed with the response from audiences, that they are now going to give the film a nationwide release in 17 of their cinemas on June 10th.
