The Robert Berman Gallery will present British sculptor and photographer Sarah Danays in conjunction with BritWeek and Month of Photography Los Angeles now through May 3rd at the Robert Berman Gallery, Project Room, Bergamot Station Arts Center, 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica. Open To The Public.
Danays work pays homage to centuries of anonymous sculptors, and aims to transcend time, scale, cultural and religious barriers. She meticulously photographs her sculptural work, which combine marble and alabaster hand-tooled pieces with sacred and secular antiquities to make a powerful merger of contemporary amulet and archived curiosity.
Shortlisted as one of the UK’s top five emerging sculptors in 2008, Danays has an MA from Goldsmith’s Department of Art (she’s now regarded as a Gold student) and has a Joint Honors Degree in Fine Art and Art History from Camberwell College of Art (UAL). She has exhibited in the UK, USA, Italy and Hong Kong and her work is in public and private collections in the US, Europe and Australia.
