Meet a Member: Claire Farwell

Meet Claire Farwell from Devon, who moved to LA ten years ago to be with her fiancé and now works as a fashion designer at www.clairefarwelllondon.com and is a leading breast cancer research advocate.

Was there a particular reason you chose LA?

claire-farwellI fell in love with a Californian in Barcelona and after a long-distance relationship for 18 months, while I was in Russia/Nigeria and Bahrain as a reporter for the New York Times and other media, I couldn’t bear to be without him anymore. He chose LA, we chose each other.

What one thing do you miss from home?

Nothing. I have memories and visit when I can and all my British food cravings can be bought here

What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus the UK?

Glorious sun and easier acceptance of ambition and entrepreneurialism. Outdoor sports particularly to do with water and hiking. Creativity and ambition.

Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?

The Hungry Cat – our local restaurant.

What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?

You only live once so get on with it, what took you so long? Brits in LA is here for you with such a supportive and talented lot!
