Suchet stars in The Last Confession at the Ahmanson

Opening this weekend at the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown Los Angeles is acclaimed English actor David Suchet in “The Last Confession”, an exciting new political/religious thriller that will doubtless appeal to fans of The Da Vinci Code and House of Cards.

david-suchetThe play, which the Daily Telegraph described as ‘A brilliant tale of venom in the Vatican”, is set in 1978, when a little-known country priest is inaugurated as Pope John Paul I in an uneasy compromise. With the promise of liberal reforms, the “Smiling Pope” warns three hostile cardinals that they will be removed. Thirty-three days after his election, he is found dead and no autopsy is performed.

But that’s only the beginning of the story…

Suchet is a veteran star of stage, screen and TV. He is perhaps best known to American viewers for his long-running portrayal of Agatha Christie’s Belgian detective Hercule Poirot on PBS TV’s Masterpiece Mystery series.

The Last Confession runs until July 6th and tickets can be snagged for as little as $39 if you visit centertheatregroup.org to book your ticket and use the promo code MYSTERY. Or call 213/972-7231.
