Meet Laura-Beth Hill, actor and stand-up comic, originally from Leeds.
Was there a particular reason you chose LA?
]I first came to LA back in 2009 to do an acting course with Margie Haber. I fell in love with the city and the lifestyle – not to mention the weather. Plus I could see how many opportunities there are for actors in LA and I wanted to be a part of that.
What one thing do you miss from home?
Definitely family! I come from a very close family and although I have lots of great friends here in LA I still miss my family back in England.
What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus the UK?
I know it’s a cliché but the weather has to be one of the biggest differences! I also love being in a city filled with so many creative and positive people.
Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?
I’m not sure how hidden it is, but the Observatory is a truly magical place to visit. There’s plenty to explore inside and out and you can enjoy the stunning views by day, or go stargazing at night and see the city all lit up. Either way the views are breathtaking and there is a sense of calm up there.
What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?
Come and visit first. Do a course or something where you’ll meet lots of people and just get a feel for the city before you commit to a move here.
