I can’t think a better person to be honored by the city Palm Springs than “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump…this week the city honored the television personality, author, restaurateur and humanitarian with her very own star on its “Walk of Stars” in Downtown Palm Springs, making her the 372nd star to be so honored.
Walking up the “pink carpet” upon arrival, Vanderpump, the co-founder of Villa Blanca, Sur, and more recently the swanky Pump restaurant, was dedicated at the ceremony, supported by her loyal family members husband Ken Todd, son Max Todd and daughter Pandora Sabo who was accompanied by her husband Jason.
Singer Lance Bass, along with NBC’s Robert Kovacik actress Lisa Rinna and White Party Palm Springs founder Jeffrey Sanker were all guest speakers who acknowledged Lisa’s philanthropic efforts at the event.
Palm Springs City Council-member Paul Lewin also honored Lisa, who joined a starry cast including Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John and Marilyn Monroe, all of whom have been honored on the Walk of Stars.
What makes this such a special event is that one of the main reasons Lisa was honored was for her incredible contribution to the advancement of equal LGBT rights and the exceptional visibility and awareness she has brought to the Palm Springs community.
I did spot the odd glass of champagne being handed around, but more importantly, Ruby’s at Plaza Mercado served guests strawberry “pink” milkshakes, which is Lisa’s favorite color. Delish!
Lisa told the British Weekly: “Palm Springs is my home away from home, Ken and I have being coming here for years. I’m quite overwhelmed by all of this.
“I promised I wouldn’t cry, but I feel a tear coming on.”
She added: “It’s such an emotional morning, I am so grateful to the city of Palm springs for this honor.”
As the City’s former Queen of the White Party AND a dedicated supporter of the LGBT community, who also launched her “Simply Divine” book tour in the desert city, Lisa Vanderpump is a much-loved celebrity in Palm Springs.
Congratulations darling!
