VETERAN British rocker Dave Mason will make a rare local appearance at the Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine University in Malibu on Wed. Sept. 17th at 8pm for a concert titled ‘Traffic Jam’.
Mason is best known for founding the hugely influential British rock group Traffic in 1967 as a teenager with Stevie Winwood and Jim Capaldi. The band produced hits including “Feelin’ Alright” and “Hole In My Shoe,” and although Mason left the band because of creative differences, he went on to establish himself as a successful songwriter and guitarist and solo artist, penning the mini-classics “We Just Disagree” and “Only You Know and I Know.” As a guitarist, Mason has performed with Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Rita Coolidge, Leon Russell, Ron Wood and Mama Cass Elliot.
Mason will be bringing the music of Traffic to Pepperdine with his band, comprised of Johnnie Sambataro, Alvino Bennett, and Tony Patler.
“I think that it is important to keep alive the legacy of four young men from the heartland of England and their contribution to contemporary music,” said Mason.
Tickets, priced starting at $40 for the public and $10 for full-time Pepperdine students, are available now by calling (310) 506-4522 or online at www.arts.pepperdine.edu. For more information: visit: www.davemasonmusic.com.
