Great comics come and go, but one dazzling star of the showbiz firmament lo, these many decades has been Dame Edna Everage, the Aussie superstar and creation of the brilliant comedian Barry Humphries.
Sadly the great Dame is feeling the effects of the passing years too, and will visit these parts for one last time during her farewell tour – billed as Dame Edna’s Glorious Goodbye – by playing at the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown LA from January 24th to March 15th.
In what promises to be a side-splitting and historic finale, Dame Edna will cap a career spanning 50 years of bravura showmanship, giving fans old and new a chance to bid farewell to arguably Australia’s greatest entertainment export.
The New York Times described the show as “The most purely enjoyable night of the year,” and the British Weekly will certainly be in attendance in expectation of something similar.
