Meet Amanda J Fleming from Manchester, who moved to LA six years ago to pursue acting and ended up branching out into producing.
How did you hear about Brits in LA?
I was introduced to Craig at an early Brits in LA school disco function within two months of my arriving in LA and have never looked back.
What one thing do you miss from home?
Family. And mushy peas
What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus Manchester?
LA offers a healthy lifestyle, open-minded people, good weather and plenty of opportunities and networking possibilities which are scarce in the UK.
Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?
Solar de Cahuenga, a fab little gem off Cahuenga and Hollywood. Great wine and a yummy lunch. Lots of production people have brunch meetings there with laptops in hand.
What does community mean to you?
To me community means a sense of never being alone, always having somewhere to go and a strong sense of friendship and support.
What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?
Research…research….research. One thing I would say is it is VITAL to get a list of community-based groups such as Brits in LA, so that you feel you are not alone as an expat. It can be a bewildering experience to someone of any age making a move across the pond, no connections. But if the support is there, it makes a huge difference.
Lastly, how can we find out more about you? Are you on the Internet?
Yes I am on Stage 32, LinkedIn, Spotlight, Imdb and Twitter. I also have a website.
