Congrats to British star Benedict Cumberbatch and fiancée Sophie Hunter who are expecting a baby together…we can (finally) reveal… (Heard this news a few weeks ago…but couldn’t write about it)…
This exciting pregnancy comes just two months after Cumberbatch, 38, and Hunter, 36, got engaged. Before popping the question, the Sherlockstar flew to Edinburgh to ask Hunter’s mom’s permission to ask for her hand in marriage (Oo-er…so traditional!).
Hunter sparked pregnancy rumors last weekend at the 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival when fans took notice of her flowing dress that appeared baggy around her midsection. Now fans and Cumberbitches (as some fans of the great man call themselves) far and wide can officially celebrate the big baby news!
In a statement the star’s publicist said: “I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.”
The engaged couple has been seen at multiple awards ceremonies over the past couple of months, following Cumberbatch’s much-acclaimed performance as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.
However, wedding plans aren’t his biggest priority right now, the star told reporters at the festival, “One thing at a time, I’m playing Sherlock now, just about to start, so my main focus is going to be that.”
The actor is a frontrunner for the Best Actor in a Drama Award at Sunday’s Golden Globes. This will be a first child for both Cumberbatch and Hunter!
