So many familiar faces attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in West Hollywood, but I have to say, it was a pleasure catching up with Lady Victoria Hervey as I watched the Oscars ceremony from one of the best parties in town.
Lady V was sitting on the table next me and we got to have a good ol’ catch up as the awards show rolled on huge screens above us.
Victoria had just appeared on the UK winter sports reality TV show Jump and coincidentally I had watched nearly every episode of her unbelievable talents and showmanship on YouTube as the weeks unfolded.
Who’d have thought Lady V had it in her… Well she certainly does! She was amazing on the show…and I couldn’t wait to tell her. I think she was quite surprised and a little flattered perhaps (maybe?) by my compliments. She even smiled at me, something she hadn’t done too often in the past.
Perhaps we’re all growing up finally. Los Angeles can be a tough ol’ town at times and people can get caught up in all sorts of BS… me included. But Lady Victoria shone on Oscar night, looking gorgeous in her revealing long black gown by Jean Fares Haute Couture.
Well done Lady V, I (finally) salute you!
On a touching note… It’s nice to remember that we are not only at Elton’s to watch the Oscars, but to raise money for the fight against HIV/AIDS. The party, hosted by Sir Elton and David Furnish just happened raise $5.8 million on Sunday night and as Sharon Osbourne quite rightly put it when she took to the stage at the event, she yelled out, “F**K the Oscars let’s raise money and save lives!” … Well said Shazza, well said!
