Hello Breeps:
What a speedy week it has been and as the weather heats up (an average of 95 this past weekend) so do the people and activities! That’s one of the beautiful things about LA. There truly is no shortage of things to do.
This past week we were invited to the residence of Consul General Chris O’Connor to learn about Sarah Brown’s charity “TheirWorld” which is about changing children’s lives. Every single child is precious and unique. At Theirworld they work hard to give children the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life. In attendance were Minnie Driver, Audley Harrison, Piers Morgan, Geena Davis and the legend that is Rod Stewart.
Sandro Monetti was back hosting our Pub Quiz on Tuesday with quite the packed house. The talent round the room was really quite something to see and quite why quiz regular Ron Jeremy chose to play the harmonica in that round, I’ve no idea. (Oo-er Missus) The quiz is held every other Tuesday in the Pikey’s back room and not only do we always welcome newcomers but we’ll find a friendly team for them to play with.
Wednesday saw a wonderful evening of theatre courtesy of The Ahmanson Theatre’s production of Matilda. Based on the Roald Dahl book, this musical is wonderfully magical in every way and perfect for all the family. This week we are supporting LA Gay Pride by hosting a series of LGBT short films at Soho House, proudly sponsored by Air New Zealand. The event features six shorts from around the world celebrating the diversity within the community. The fun starts on Saturday, June 13th at 8pm and we have a few spaces left so email me to check at craig@britsin.la Then on Sunday we join the British Consulate and The UKares Foundation in the actual parade. Look out for us on top of a giant double-decker bus blaring out fab iconic 80’s music. Hope you can come and cheer us along!
Till next time…
Craig
