British Supermodel Cara Delevingne surprised us all earlier this week after she hinted she may be about to quit her career as a model after claiming it has made her hate her body.
Oo-er!
In fact, she is so certain the catwalk is not her future she admits she is “not doing fashion work any more.”
The 23-year-old star opened up about the cut-throat industry in her most candid chat ever.
“It [modelling] didn’t make me grow at all as a human being.
“And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old.
“I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge,” she told The Times.
Before adding: “It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”
Things got so bad for the London based model that she developed the skin infection psoriasis – forcing her to cover her skin in foundation at every runway show she worked.
She said: “People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, leprosy or something.”
After rocketing to superstardom at the age of ten, Cara found herself in constant demand by designers who encouraged her to be as sexual as possible when she hit her teens – something she said made her feel sick.
“I am a bit of a feminist and it makes me feel sick. It’s horrible and it’s disgusting.
“You start when you are really young and you do, you get subjected to … not great stuff.”
In recent months, Cara has focused her attention to acting with roles in Paper Towns and the Christmas blockbuster Pan.
Well, after her impressive performance in Paper Towns, I am sure Cara won’t have anything to worry about by missing out on a few modelling jobs… Her acting career, I am sure, is set to soar!
