Let’s be clear: Daniel Craig hasn’t hung up his boots just yet. But in a recent interview he was happy to embrace the topic. Does he care who plays Bond next?
The heartthrob Brit has admitted that he actually doesn’t care who replaces him as James Bond 007, and calls for an end to the debate.
Oo-er!
It is widely speculated that Craig is to be stepping down from the franchise after the latest installment, Spectre, is released next month, though he didn’t mention any of the actors who have been tipped to take over, which include Damian Lewis.
Just a few months ago rumors were rife that Idris Elba would take over as the first first black star to play the iconic spy.. And as for the rumors of Tom Hardy, I can’t see that one happening…
Craig did respond to the wild theory that David Beckham might be a future 007. “Good luck to him! If he doesn’t get that football team going in Miami, that’s probably a good idea!”
However, Craig says skin color should be irrelevant when casting the new 007. I definitely agree with that.
Daniel said: “The right person for the job should do the job, and I don’t give a f*** what color their skin is,” he tells Britain’s Culture magazine.
“It shouldn’t be an issue. We should have moved on.”
“I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able,” he told Britain’s Event magazine.
“I’m contracted for one more – but I’m not going to make predictions.”
Craig first appeared as 007 in the 2006 movie Casino Royale.
Since then he has starred in three other films in the series. Spectre is slated to open in the US on November 6th.
I cannot wait!!
