FANS OF DYLAN Thomas will want to attend a reading of the classic “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” presented as a staged reading next month in Glendale.
Cast with veterans of the Stepping Stone theatre group, this small-cast concert version is told from the viewpoint of the author (pictured, left), who recounts the festive season as a young boy. In the first passage, Thomas touches on that perfect memory so many of share when he says “It was snowing. It was always snowing at Christmas” and he polishes that memory when he describes the snow as being better and more exciting than the snow that is experienced as an adult. Written with a strong poetic voice, the prose is filled with the warmth and humor of vivid characters as seen through the eyes of a child.
A Child’s Christmas in Wales will be held on Sunday December 6th at 2:00pm at the Boy Scouts of America Hall, 1325 Grandview Avenue in Glendale. Admission is free for performers, but everyone else will be asked for a $20 suggested donation to support the Stepping Stone Players 2016 Production Fund. If you are interested in being cast in the piece, please write to volunteers@steppingstoneplayers.com for full details.
