A new season of first-run episodes of this detective drama debuts with the incorruptible and uncompromising George Gently (Martin Shaw), who was transplanted from London’s Scotland Yard to England’s North Country. Powerful mysteries unfold against the beautiful backdrop of rural Britain in the 1960’s, a region just beginning to feel the rumbles of the era’s social and cultural quakes.
Season Five premieres on Sunday, December 20th at 10pm with “Gently With Women”, which sees Gently’s investigation into the rape of a prostitute lead him to unravel how rape cases are handled within the force.
