REMEMBER Eddie the Eagle? Well, you’re not alone. The unlikely story about a never-say-die British no-hoper who found global fame in the ski-jump at the Calgary Olympics has all the classic elements of a great movie, and someone has finally made one.
Released on February 26th and starring Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman, Eddie the Eagle tells the tale of Michael “Eddie” Edwards (Egerton), an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself – even as an entire nation was counting him out. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (Jackman), Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world by making an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Eddie the Eagle is directed by Dexter Fletcher, with a screenplay by Sean Macaulay and Simon Kelton. In limited relase February 26th.
