British star Tom Hiddleston has already impressed audiences with his turn as the devilish Loki in Marvel’s “Thor” and “Avengers” films, and the actor says he is willing make the move from mythic god to film icon by playing James Bond.

The actor has openly admitted he thinks playing 007in a future film “would be an extraordinary opportunity” for him…

Er, yeah Tom, I’ll say!

Daniel Craig is the current incumbent, portraying the British spy in Spectre, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale, but he has been publicly ambivalent about continuing, prompting plenty of speculation in the press about just who could be that perfect replacement.

Hiddleston says he’s elated to be mentioned with peers like Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Aidan Turner and Michael Fassbender.

“Time magazine ran a poll and there were like, 100 actors on the list, including Angelina Jolie,” Hiddleston gushed to The Sunday Times.

“But yes, it’s nice to be included in the 100. I’m a huge fan of the series. We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology.

“I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity.”

Hiddleston believes he’d fare well depicting 007 even though the action-intensive role is very physically challenging.

“I’m very aware of the physicality of the job,” he added.

Well, that sounds like a yes to us. And if anyone thinks that Hiddleston isn’t up for the job, rest assured it’s clear from that comment he knows what he’ll be getting himself into.

Hiddleston will portray a UK Special Air Service tracker in the forthcoming action-adventure fantasy Kong: Skull Island.
