Sweet, darling, sweetie! Coo-ey! Over here!
The new AbFab film – Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie – hits theaters this summer in a great big orgy of Bolli-Stoli-slugging bad behavior and stiletto teetering mayhem.
Think The Inbetweeners, only without all the maturity and level-headedness. The movie has a new poster which I just had to share in this week’s column.
Director Mandie Fletcher (Blackadder II, the Absolutely Fabulous TV show) is helming this one, working from a Jennifer Saunders script, with her Edina and Joanna Lumley as Patsy joined, as you might expect by Julia Sawalha who is back as Saffy, Jane Horrocks as Bubble and of course good ol’ June Whitfield as Mother.
The plot, which follows some of the archetypes for a film based on a British sitcom, sees Edina and Patsy shopping, drinking and clubbing their way round London’s top spots until they stumble into a fashionable launch party and are blamed for a major incident. Fleeing the ensuing media storm and attendant paparazzi, they head for the French Riviera without a penny to their names, but start to form a plan to stay there permanently.
A cavalcade of cameos and appearances bolsters the cast for this one, with Kate Moss, Joan Collins, Cara Delevingne and even the legendary Celia Imrie on the roster.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie will be appearing in UK and US cinemas in a puff of cigarette smoke this summer!
