Sherlock is back! And fans were given a much- needed boost after a trailer for the new series aired on BBC One starring Benedict Cumberbatch this week.
The 90-second clip sent Twitter into meltdown as ecstatic fans shared their reactions online.
One wrote: “Did anyone else see the trailer for Sherlock? I am screaming!”
Another then posted: “Sherlock! Good trailer. Well positioned straight after Bake Off. 10/10 would watch Cumberbatch again.”
Moments later, a different viewer tweeted: “Seeing Andrew lose and a Sherlock trailer straight afterwards was far too much for my heart. It is still beating and I can’t sleep.”
Shorty afterwards, a different fan commented: “Ok, that trailer was seriously amazing. I can’t wait for the show to come back. #Sherlock.!”
The new series, promises the darkest episodes yet – will Sherlock make it out alive?
The clip opens with a concerned Sherlock chillingly uttering: “Something is coming. Maybe it’s Moriarty. Maybe it’s not. But something is coming…”
He is then seen discussing a case with his sidekick Dr John Watson – played by Martin Freeman.
“Whenever he’s coming, whatever he’s lined up, I’ll know where to begin,” Sherlock insists.
Viewers are then warned that everything their favourite characters know will be tested and everyone is under threat.
