Ex-Spice Girls singer Mel C has been slammed by viewers of the popular ITV breakfast show This Morning as Spice Girl fans claimed she was putting on a ‘terrible posh accent’ and ‘forgotten her roots’.
The 42-year-old star is back with a new solo album and appeared on the ITV Daytime show to explain why she wasn’t joining the latest Spice Girl reunion.
Oo-er!
Despite ITV’s Holly Willoughby practically begging Mel to return to the group, those who were watching at home were reacting to the Liverpudlian singer’s accent.
“How posh does Mel c sound? Lost her accent big style #thismorning,” said one viewer.
Another added that it was the “worst attempt at a posh accent” they’d ever heard.
Speaking about her return to music, Mel told Ben Shephard and Holly it was “exciting, daunting, tiring” and her new sound is “honest”.
Mel C said: “I’ve always been honest but as I got older I think I’m more courageous to delve a little bit more.
Holly then pleaded for her to join Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton for the Spice Girl reunion.
“Its really hard. I know people want it,” said Melanie. “There are various reasons. It was just bothering me. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle and you need all the peices.
Victoria Beckham is not joining the other girls for a reunion, and Mel added: “We’re not the same if we’re not all together.”
When Holly pressed for her to join the girls, she replied: “Yeah, that is not going to happen.”
Personally, I think she sounds as if she has grown up, that’s all… And she’s certainly NOT Posh!
