Hardy workouts bring aches and pains to Tom!

IT SURE is hard(y) work being beautiful!

At least that’s my takeaway from hearing Tom Hardy describe the aches and pains he suffers after bulking up for roles including Charles Bronson (the criminal not the actor) in the British film of the same name, and Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘. The heartthrob has revealed that constantly changing his physique for films has really taken its toll.

Oo-er!

Speaking to The Daily Beast, the ‘Mad Max‘ actor said that his new mobster role, starring as the middle-aged Al Capone in “Fonzo” might mean he’ll have to pack on the pounds, explaining: “It’s not the classic Al Capone that you necessarily envision with the silhouette.

“I don’t want to give too much away about it, but there’s definitely a transformation with that role.

“I don’t know if it’s as drastic as Bane. I’ve probably damaged my body too much. I’m only little. If I keep putting on weight I’ll collapse like a house of cards under too much pressure.”

Tom, who recently discussed his chances of playing James Bond, blamed the fluctuations between different weights for his new ‘aches and pains’.

He continued: “After the film I’m tired, and you maybe have to change your shape again and go back to your normal size for the next film. To go from one extreme to another has a cost.

And while the Londoner admits he got away with an extreme body-altering regime in his youth, he says it’s harder now he’s got ‘achier’.

“I’m certainly a bit achier than I used to be… I certainly have joints that click that probably shouldn’t click, you know what I mean?

He added: “As you get into your forties you have to be more mindful of the rapid training, packing on a lot of weight and getting physical, and then not having enough time to keep training because you’re busy filming, so your body is swimming in two different directions at the same time.”

I would agree with that Tom, from one forty (ahem) something to another….!
