It seems that every actor in the Western Hemisphere is panting to be the next James Bond….
But there’s one actor apparently more desperate than the rest… Fifty Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan.
According to The Sun, Jamie made the playful comment about the coveted role during a unique interaction with Stephen Clements, the poplar breakfast host on Belfast’s Q Radio station.
Clements had penned a version of rapper Eminem’s Stan featuring the likes of Eamonn Holmes, Chipmunk and Arlene Foster in a bid to get Jamie’s attention. It worked!
The Irish actor was happy to respond as the challenge had been a tool for the pair to raise money for TinyLife charity.
Jamie, who made his name playing a Belfast serial killer in the acclaimed TV drama The Fall, before shooting to worldwife fame as the kinky tycoon Christian Grey, replied with his own rap verse as he quipped: “Dear Stephen, I’m sorry it took me so long to respond – I’ve been running around the world trying to convince people I’m James Bond.”
The search for the next 007 began after the current Bond, Daniel Craig, refused to confirm – or deny – his participation in the next film. This stalemate has forced Eon Productions, who own the rights to the Bond canon to look for a replacement.
Producer Barbara Broccoli, daughter of Albert R. Broccoli, the man who first brought Bond to the screen more than 50 years ago, has reportedly conducted auditions for actors including Idris Alba, Aidan Turner, Jack Huston, Tom Hardy, James Norton, Tom Hiddleston, and Ryan Gosling, but no word yet on who the lucky choice will be.
Who knows, Craig could still be in the frame for another outing – if the price is right. A source said: “Daniel and MGM are currently at a stalemate with him having not spoken to them about Bond.
“They have offered a bigger wage deal, and asked about his filming availability to his reps in 2017, but as of yet they have not spoken to Daniel.”
Meanwhile, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey – Fifty Shades Darker will be released in time for Valentine’s Day, with trailers now out teasing the fans about the next installment. There is a hint of a possible wedding and tragedy as the trailers show a stalking woman following Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel.
