Yup… We all knew, but finally, former One Direction singer Liam Payne admits to ‘tension and struggles’ with Cheryl after crisis talks over their relationship.
Oo-er!
The British star has opened up for the first time since news of his relationship woes with Cheryl surfaced and admitted they have had “struggles”.
Having kept quiet amid the initial reports, Liam has now decided to speak out and admitted they have recently been through a period of “tenseness”.
In an interview with the ES Magazine, Liam said things are not “fine and dandy” between himself and his girlfriend – who is mum to his son Bear.
Finally admitting that he and Cheryl have found themselves in the middle of a rocky patch, Liam added: “This part of our relationship was never not going to happen, there was always going to be a little bit of tenseness in the way we sort ourselves out, but tell me a relationship in the world that doesn’t go through a spot like that?”
Sources close to the stars blamed the pressure and success of Liam’s solo career, which has meant Cheryl has been left with Bear – who turns one tomorrow – for weeks at a time.
But in his latest chat, Liam has insisted that Cheryl is “very understanding” about his work.
“I don’t think anybody else could take it,” he added.
He said: “You know, we have our struggles – like of course I’m not gonna sit here and say that everything’s absolutely fine and dandy, because of course you go through different things, and that’s what a relationship is.
“But we go through them together as a family and that’s the most important thing for me.”
Last month, following the initial reports of Liam and Cheryl’s romance woes, the pair put on a united front at The Brits.
But sparking concern, the couple went their separate ways at the end of the event, spending the night apart.
The following morning, Liam jetted to Miami for work without Cheryl and baby Bear.
Meanwhile, Cheryl is said to be livid over accusations that her mum Joan is to blame for putting stress on her relationship.
On Tuesday, a source told Closer magazine: “Cheryl was a mess after Joan got dragged into all of this.
“She thinks that it’s unfair that her mum is in the headlines, especially because Joan has been nothing but supportive to them as a couple and an amazing hands-on grandmother to Bear.”
I put the whole thing down to nothing more than relationship “Paynes”… I know, I know… Sorry I just had to crack that one!
