Not all Brits in LA Members live in Los Angeles: in fact a fair number are scattered around the globe. A case in point is this week’s Meet a Member is David Holroyd, who lives in Perth, Austrtalia.
Seeing as you don’t live in Los Angeles how did you end up joining Brits in LA?
A Brit friend who has lived here for many years recommended Brits in LA as a great bunch of welcoming people and I’m here because my second feature film as Writer/Director ’the Haunted’ is having its premier at the Screamfest Film Festival on Saturday 13th October 6pm at the TCL Chinese theatre on Hollywood boulevard
What is your impression of LA?
Whenever I’m flying in and see the lights below me stretching endlessly into the distance I have a sense of trepidation, but within ten minutes of landing I have a sense of delight. By now I’ve been to LA so many times that it is familiar but endlessly new. I think both those things say something about the city.
Do you think you could ever see yourself moving to LA, if not tell us what keeps you in Perth?
If work brought me here I’d love to move to LA for a while, but I have two amazing young kids in Perth and endless miles of great Australian beaches.
Do you have a hidden gem that you want to share with us?
I’m sure there are many I havent discovered yet, which is exciting.
Lots of our members join our group Brits in LA seeking out words of wisdom – what is the best piece of advice you’ve been given ?
From a Great Aunt in her 100th Birthday: “You enjoy yourself while you’re young!” I’ve since interpreted that to mean find as much joy as you possibly can every day of your life. There are a limited number of them!
Lastly, how can we find you on the Internet?
