A Vision Board: how to make your dreams manifest in 2019!

Happy New Year To All:

Late last year on 12th of the 12th at 12pm I started to make my vision board.

I’d done one before about ten years previously. And I recently found it at the back of some boxes in storage. And in it was a picture of Ben Kingsley and I started musing about being involved with the Jaguar commercial campaign “British Villains” alongside sir Ben. Had I manifested it all those years before? The truth is I’d completely forgotten that he’d been there on my wall all those years before. So how does a vision board work …..and do they really work? I think this depends on the person and how much hope they have and/or how sleptical they might be…..

Creating a sacred space that displays what you want actually does bring it to life. What we focus on expands. That is especially true when you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often. According to the popular book The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”

Manifestation has been a practice for decades – even athletes have been using to improve their performance, and that activates brain patterns, as they imagine the finish line, imagine clearing all the hurdles. This can apply to us regular mortals too, even if we aren’t athletes. Imagine overcoming a hurdle. Picture what is on the other side. What does that happiness look like, smell like, sound like?

Your vision board ought to focus on how you want to feel, not just on things that you want. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to include the material stuff, too. However, the more your board focuses on how you want to feel, the more it will come to life.

     Ready to make your own?

I went to Michael’s craft store and bought a large piece of card paper for about 35cents along with some felt tip pens, a felt alphabet, glitter and a glue gun.  Plus some stickers of things that make me happy. I then put on some slow jazz music and cleared a space in my dining- room table: Afterwards, I went through all the magazines I own and cut out all the people I admire as well as phrases and quotes of famous people that will inspire me throughout the year. I did the same with travel and fitness publications (Because let’s face it, who doesn’t want to beach ready in March? 😉

I also picked up some really affirmation stickers for my board. I have cut out images from magazines of the people I want to work with, the places I want to travel too, the stages I want to work on. But it’s also important to manifest the feelings you want. Laughter, joy, excitement.  By using these affirmations it will help bring the things I want into my life.

A good place to start is to contemplate your goals in the following areas: relationships, career and finances, home, travel, personal growth (including spirituality), social life, education, and health goals. That six-pack emerging? That Christmas 20 gone? Maybe it’s to run a marathon. How about a triathlon?

Then find the images  that most turn you on in these fields, through magazines, newspapers or print from the internet. Then set the mood. Turn off the TV and turn on some relaxing music. Create some space on the floor or in the dining room table. Have all your things around you. Give yourself a good couple of hours. Use your supplies to make it call come together in one place. Most importantly put stuff on the board that uou actually will WANT to look at every day.

One final thing: always handwrite your goals instead of typing them, there’s something energetic about actually handwriting your goals and aspirations.

It always helps to do it with a friend or a group of people to help keep you accountable. I know of someone that creates their board and then puts it away for the whole year and then brings it out on Nrw Year’s Eve to see how well he did. There’s usually some surprising results!

As we make our first tentative steps into 2019, I wish you all the greatest year ahead and I hope all of your dreams come true. Whatever they may be.

Till next time!
