Landmark works by Coleridge and Wilde to be read at Westwood Library

On Sunday, February 23rd at 2pm the Westwood Branch Library will continue their reading, lecture and discussion series with Joe Praml reading the narrative poems “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and “The Ballad of Reading Gaol.”

Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” is a moving tale of an old seaman on a long journey of contrition after a mindless act of violence as a younger man, when he kills the benevolent Albatross and suffers the wrath of the vengeful sea.

“The Ballad of Reading Gaol” is the last great work of Oscar Wilde, Irish poet and playwright (pictured), written while in exile in Paris, after his release from prison where he witnessed the execution of another prisoner.     The Westwood Branch Library is located 1246 Glendon Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90024.
