FANS OF the legendary British comic Viz will want to get down to Orange County this month for the NCS Fest, a huge comic arts festival coming to Huntington Beach. As part of the festival, there will be “An Evening with Viz” at the Hyatt Regency on Thursday, May 16th at 8.30pm.
For those not in the know, since debuting 40 years ago, the bawdy and outrageous Viz has become a national treasure in Britain. At its zenith, it was selling an astonishing 1.2 million copies per issue, and it continues to be a surreal and vulgar staple of the British diet. Attendees at An Evening with Viz can spend an evening in the company of Buster Gonad, Roger Mellie, The Fat Slags et al, and the two reprobates responsible for bringing them to life, Simon Thorp and Graham Dury. The 90-minute show with Graham and Simon, and a select band of invited cartoonists, promises to ‘roast the Royals and test your swearing vocabulary’.
Among the other British artists appearing at NCSFest are Charlie Adlard of The Walking Dead, Sean Phillips of Batman and Martin Rowson of The Guardian.
This show is absolutely NOT SUITABLE for children or those easily offended by potty mouth or descripitions of the body’s naughty wobbly bits…
