THERE was good news for travelers to Manchester with the recent roll out of Virgin Atlantic’s direct flights from LAX to the north. The three-times-a-week service, launched on May 26, will whisk travelers directly from the City of Angels to England’s “gateway to the north”.
Manchester has a rich heritage as a key location in the world’s first Industrial Revolution and the city’s relevance continues to this day, with a vibrant music, football and retail scene. All Virgin Atlantic flights to Manchester arrive in Terminal 2. The airpot is located about 8 miles south of the city center. Direct trains run from the airport station which is located between terminals 1 and 2. You can take the train to Manchester Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations for only £4 and the trip only takes about 20 minutes. The flights leave LAX at 18.30pm and takes ten hours and 25 minutes.
