THE SHOCKING LOOTING across Los Angeles at the weekend did not spare one of the local community’s most iconic businesses, as Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica was hit hard on Sunday afternoon.
Looters targeted the shop and pub on Santa Monica Boulevard, stealing the cash on hand, smashing TVs, vandalizing the fixtures and looting whatever they could get their hands on, including dragging out an ATM machine and attempting to open it with a hammer as it lay on the pavement.
However, come Monday morning, the local community showed up in force to help with cleanup.
Kings Head manager Lisa Powers told the BW this week: “We suffered a large amount of damage and mindless destruction but first thing Monday there must have been thirty people waiting outside to help with clean-up. It was a huge help and I have to say the support from the local community has been overwhelming.”
The Kings Head was scheduled to reopen on June 12th – the pub, patio dining and at least one of their bars. The Kings Head can be reached at 310/451-1402.
