June is the month for the LGBTQ community to reflect and celebrate and stand up and be counted as equal and something that is out of the stereotype is the good old British game of Rugby. Yes there are gay players too!
We are so excited to have a match coming up where we want everyone to ‘show their pride’. Pride in who they are, their community, where they are from and their heritage.
Coming from London myself I know how much my local ‘NewComers Group’ helped me find my place, my local sports bar, and other friends who helped with the transition and still help me keep some of my family close to me. We have a huge range of Brits within our team and we want to celebrate that.
We are excited to reach out and connect from the office of the LA Giltinis – Los Angeles’ first professional rugby team!
As we move through our inaugural season in the City of Angels, we are continuously looking for ways to engage the passionate local communities and celebrate the diversity that exists within our city.
As a part of this effort, we are excited to announce that our 6/13 game against Houston at the LA Coliseum will officially be our Giltinis Show Your Pride Match! This game will be an opportunity to celebrate the inclusive nature of rugby and the people that make it so special. In addition to highlighting the incredible LGBTQ+ sports community that exists right here in Los Angeles, we’re also encouraging fans from all over the world to show pride in who they are and where they’re from!
About the LA Giltinis
The LA Giltinis is our professional Rugby Union Team representing the City of Los Angeles in Major League Rugby (MLR), named after a premium cocktail based on a Martini. The Giltinis’ home matches are played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and headquarters and practice facility is located in El Segundo, CA. The LA Giltinis are setting the pace in MLR at 8-1 atop the Western Conference standings with Captain Dave Dennis, Wallabies great Matt Giteau and Head Coach Darren Coleman leading the way. About Major League Rugby
MLR was founded in 2018 with seven teams and has since expanded to 12 teams this season with the LA Giltinis as the newest club.
