Worth going out for…

If 2020 was the year of staying home I think that makes 2022 the antithesis.

We’ve gone from ‘not going out’ to ‘ let’s dip our toes back in’ then almost overnight it seems we have accelerated to being social butterflies making up for lost time. Whilst fun, it can be rather exhausting especially when we, (or me, at least) are so out of practice.

Gareth Bale is coming to LA

The world might be our oyster, but I thought I would save you some valuable time and highlight a few upcoming events that I think might be the pearls we are all searching for.

Obviously I would be remiss to not mention events on the Brits in LA calendar: first up is our collaboration with the BABC and BritWeek – this is the perfect event for those of you who enjoy a garden party vibe. A belated celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica on Sunday July 10th 3-6pm. There is plenty of great entertainment lined up for this, including the legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold. Tickets include and exclusive opportunity to win Upper Class Tickets to London on Virgin Atlantic Airways! There will also be food and drink and surprise musical guests. Children 14 and Under Free (limit two per family). Visit babcla.org for full details and to purchase tickets.

If you are more of a pub person you can’t go wrong with our weekly quiz night at the Market Tavern located at the Farmers Market at the Grove. It is every Tuesday at 7.30pm hosted by fun loving Brit, Sandro Monetti. It’s free to play and get there early if you need help finding a team to join.

Visit Britsin.LA for full details.

The football fans amongst you might be interested to hear that Gareth Bale has just signed with LAFC – he was expected to make his debut on July 8th but visa issues put a spanner in the works – just goes to show that immigration hiccups can happen to anyone. I’m sure he is itching to play and will be on the field as soon as that visa stamp is in his passport – visit lafc.com for the latest updates.

Fancy some netball?

Maybe netball is more your thing? If so you should check out the Los Angeles Waves Netball Club. They play most Saturday mornings at Victoria Park in Carson, CA.  No prior experience is necessary if you want to participate. People of all ages, abilities and genders are welcomed to play. But if you would rather just support from the sidelines I am sure that is ok too. They’re hosting a LALA Land tournament on September 17-18 so I’m sure they would love some volunteers. They are also planning to attend  a U.S. Open Veteran’s Day weekend in Las Vegas.

     Visit losangelesnetball.org to learn more.

I think everybody loves a good concert don’t they? Los Angeles is like Piccadilly Circus, particularly this year. If you can stay here long enough you will probably see most of your favorite acts popping in to do a show. I would recommend checking out Fred again…who will be at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery at the end of September – but if that’s not your cup of tea you are bound to find something on the Hollywood Bowl calendar – as they are celebrating their 100th anniversary and have the line up to prove it. Visit hollywoodbowl.com.

Don’t forget to pace yourself; there is always fun stuff to do in LA so it doesn’t matter if you can’t go to everything.
