BRITS around the world will transfixed by a certain football game this weekend. It’s Mbappe vs Walker; it’s Kane vs Varane; it’s Southgate vs Deschamps, it’s Agincourt all over again…..it’s ENGLAND vs FRANCE!
I’m going to put aside the usual English pessimism for this one….because of Morocco can kick Spain out of the World Cup surely the Three Lions have a chance?
We will be watching the match at The Chap in Hollywood, but we know not everyone lives close by, so we have put together a list of some of the other venues where you can watch the game with fellow supporters over on our blog which can be found at Britsin.LA. Get down to your local and support the boys!
If you want to avoid it all together why not distract yourself with the ‘Harry & Meghan’ Netflix documentary? Although by all accounts it sounds like it will still probably end in penalties, most definitely a few fouls and quite possibly an own goal. One thing’s for certain; both of these events will end in tears – fingers crossed they are happy ones…..
It would definitely help make up for the sad ones I shed earlier this week when I learned that our old friend and Brits in LA member Len Davies had passed away. He was so kind and generous and had an infectious positive outlook on life. Any time we put out a call for volunteers Len was always one of the first to respond.
He was very much loved by us all. No doubt many of you will remember him fondly as Santa from our Christmas parties over the years. He will be sorely missed. We are eternally grateful and very proud to have had Len be such a huge part of our Brits in LA family.
Also, here’s a special mention to Brits in LA member Erin Gavin, who has just released a version of Marilyn Monroe’s famous song ‘I want to be loved by you’. Many of you may remember Erin starring as the cinematic icon a few years back in a stage production of Marilyn & Sinatra, penned by our very own Sandro Monetti. Well Erin is now hoping to help raise extra awareness on mental health. And wants to remind us of the message behind the song – Mental Health Matters.
If you are struggling in any way please don’t feel you have to cope with it all on your own. Los Angeles County offers many free resources but you can also reach out to us via email or post on or our group forum via Facebook; there is now an option to post anonymously if you prefer. I know it sounds cheesy but a problem shared often is a problem halved.
Whatever it is you are going through I am certain one of our 17,000+ members will have a solution
