Anthony Kearns Performing in Long Beach to raise awareness and fund programs to improve education for children with autism, in trauma, and learning English
RANCHO PALOS VERDES: Anthony Kearns is set to perform the second in a series of benefit concerts for Wexford Institute. The purpose of the concerts is to raise awareness and fund programs supporting the education of children with autism, children in trauma, and children learning English. Anthony will be performing in Long Beach, California on September 26th, 7:00 pm, at the Center Theater/Long Beach Performing Arts Center.
Anthony Kearns is a world-renowned tenor and is a founding member of The Irish Tenors. In addition to touring with the Irish Tenors, Anthony performs in concerts and on opera stages in Ireland and the U.S. His all-encompassing concert repertoire spans Ireland to Broadway, Viennese romance to Italian classics, the drama of high opera and humorous light opera selections. A classically trained tenor, Anthony’s many opera credits include lead tenor in Faust, Romeo & Juliet, and Carmen. He starred in Hallelujah Broadway, a new PBS special recently broadcast in the Los Angeles area.
Kearns recently opened the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival to an audience of over 5,000 people with songs from the Mario Lanza songbook.
“I have been working in the United States since the end of 1998 and been very fortunate in the opportunities I’ve been given…That’s why you’ll find me performing charity concerts. It’s a nice way to give back…It’s something I like doing.”
The Wexford Institute, headquartered in Rancho Palos Verdes, provides a variety of services for school districts to improve student learning. Some of Wexford’s programs focus on professional development and family education to support children with autism and those suffering from trauma. Although there is funding being made available to find the causes and cures for autism, there is almost no funding available to support teacher and family programs to help them educate and nurture children with autism, or to support the large number of children in trauma, as well as those learning English.
Tickets are now on sale at all TicketMaster outlets and at the Center Theater Box Office. Ticket Prices: $45.00-$60.00. For more information go to: www.wexford.org/community/events.
