And according to reports….Actress Kristen Stewart might be dumping Edward Cullen for Clark Kent if the rumors about her being the frontrunner in the race to win the role of Lois Lane in the new cinematic adaptation of the Superman story are true. Stewart’s speculative competition to play Superman’s girlfriend are Malin Akerman, Jessica Biel, and Rachel McAdams. The film, called Superman: Man of Steel, will feature Brit actor Henry Cavill as the iconic superhero and is expected to fly into theaters in December of 2012.
If the Twilight Saga star is not cast as the Metropolis newspaper reporter, the only other film she is expected to possibly work on after she finishes filming the Twilight Saga movies is a feature tentatively titled Snow White and the Huntsman. This film, still in the very early stages of development at Universal Pictures, is a re-telling of the classic Snow White fairy tale. Stewart is expected to play Snow White opposite Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen as the huntsman.
Although Kristen has a history of acting alongside a handsome Brit portraying a super-powered hero with a questionable American accent, I reckon she is a little too young and subdued to personify the loud-mouthed, dynamic, and ambitious character of Lois Lane. Being only twenty-one years of age, Kristen is barely old enough to legally consume alcohol in the United States. Don’t take this personally Kristen, but Malin Akerman or Rachel McAdams seem better suited to play Superman’s meddlesome damsel in distress.
